Joshua 1: 1-18
Promises kept, obedience brings life, disobedience brings death (not just physical death, the death of hopes and dreams), obedience matters. New leadership, often brings a sense of hope, optimism and enthusiasm. But as I read the word it is easy to see in a few short chapters, events that took years to unfold. Joshua and the history of these people are still unfolding. Yet God is still faithful, sovereign and very much in control. (Remember 2 Peter 3:8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as one day.)
All of this is picture of the gospel, God is a redeeming God… throughout history He has been redeeming the brokenness of humanity. Joshua is a type of redeemer who will point us to the true Redeemer, Jesus… may we see him clearly as we read.
